Held on Saturday, August 29, and Sunday, August 30, 2026, across the shopping streets north and south of Koenji Station and along Konan Street, "The 67th Tokyo Koenji Awa Odori" is a festival that originated in 1957 to bring vibrancy to the town. Expanding year after year, it has built a rich history thanks to the support of numerous stakeholders, local residents, and Awa Odori enthusiasts. The festival aims to enhance the charm of Koenji—a town filled with smiles and gratitude—and pass down its heritage as a lasting part of Suginami culture. It is a community-rooted traditional festival that broadcasts passion and vitality nationwide and to the world. On the event days, various dance troupes (ren) participate, showcasing spirited and energetic dances. The festival also deepens community ties by offering reserved special viewing seats through corporate sponsorships and as Hometown Tax (Furusato Nozei) gift returns. Additionally, volunteer staff are recruited, making it an event supported and made possible by its community.
