Event: Rekimin Summer Festa 2026

About this event

The 'Rekimin Summer Festa 2026,' held at the Yamazaki Memorial Nakano Historical Museum (commonly known as Rekimin), is a hands-on experience event aimed at elementary and junior high school students. A diverse lineup of 10 programs is offered, including making magatama beads, sundials, origami and bookmarks, toy boats, paper-cut book covers and bookmarks, hariko (papier-mache) mask decorations, fire-making and mini hand brooms, original postcards using suminagashi (marbling), original mini andon lanterns, and experimental play. Through these experiences, participants can handle tools used before the war and learn about past daily life through play. In addition, special limited-time sections will be set up: the 'Independent Research' corner gathering useful reference materials for investigating Nakano's history and lifestyle, and the 'Ancient Nakano' corner exhibiting ancient Nakano tools and artifacts. It is an ideal event for finding summer vacation research project themes.
