About this event

Held at the Yamazaki Memorial Nakano Historical Museum, the special exhibition "Let's Explore during Summer Vacation! Ancient Nakano Unearthed" explores the mysteries of ancient daily life through excavated earthenware, stone tools, and building remains from archaeological sites. Visitors can compare ancient landscapes of parks and various tools with modern ones, and view ancient tomb shapes and structural remains from different historical eras. In addition, an advance registration workshop titled "Rubbing (Takuhon) Class" allows participants to try making rubbings by placing paper over earthenware and applying ink to capture surface patterns. Participation is free, but the workshop is open exclusively to 5th-grade elementary through junior high school students residing or attending school in Nakano Ward, with a capacity of 20 participants (a lottery will be held if applications exceed capacity). The application period runs from Saturday, August 1, 2026, to Thursday, August 13, 2026. Furthermore, there is a gift activity where visitors can stamp images of haniwa (terracotta figures) and earthenware to create original postcards (postcard supplies are limited).
