About this event
Held at the Itabashi Botanical Garden (Itabashi City Tropical Environment Plant Museum), the "Summer Vacation Special Exhibition: 'Tropical Insects 2026'" is an ideal event for summer vacation research projects. Numerous popular rhinoceros beetles and stag beetles will be on display, including the world's largest beetle, the Hercules beetle, as well as the rainbow stag beetle and Caucasus beetle. In addition, this year introduces hands-on interaction corners with creatures such as scorpions, giant burrowing cockroaches, and orchid mantises, alongside opportunities to interact with large beetles and stag beetles and take commemorative photos. In the specimen display area, visitors can admire specimens of various tropical insects such as beautiful morpho butterflies, birdwing butterflies, stick insects, and leaf insects. The event also features a talk show by an insect-loving comedian, a mini guide to carnivorous plants, and a play corner with insect toys, offering content enjoyable for children and adults alike. Visitors will receive a free original "Summer Vacation Independent Research Support Notebook," which helps in finding research project topics. During the summer vacation period, there are also days when admission is free for elementary and junior high school students, making it a wonderful opportunity for families to experience the world of tropical insects.
