About this event

The "Ome Tobu Festival: Connecting Fair" will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, in the Imadera area of Ome City, creating a day of new connections across eastern Ome. Aimed at showcasing the charms of eastern Ome City and deepening community bonds, this festival is being held for the first time as part of a local exchange initiative organized by the Junior Chamber International Ome. In an area with an aging and declining birthrate, the event was planned to rebuild the community across barriers between new and long-time residents, and to foster understanding of local traditional culture. On the day, a section of the road from Imadera Higashihara Intersection to Imadera 4-Chome 1 Intersection will become a pedestrian paradise, featuring various events from 10:45 AM to 3:15 PM. One of the highlights is the "Joint Float and Hayashi Music Parade" by music troupes (Hayashiren) from five districts—Fujihashi, Imadera, Shinmachi, Daimon, and Yano—allowing visitors to enjoy cross-regional collaborations up close. In addition, stage performances by local students will be held; a participatory dance by the Seihou Gakuen Traditional Culture Club and the Folk Dance Federation will allow spectators to jump in and dance together, creating a unified atmosphere. Furthermore, Japanese drum performances by Ome Sogo High School and dance and calligraphy performances by Japan Aviation High School will be showcased. Food trucks, craft and workshop stalls, and activity exhibition booths will line the venue, recreating the vibrant atmosphere of a traditional fair (ennichi) for residents of all generations. Classic festival games for children such as target shooting, yo-yo balloon fishing, and lotteries will be available, and the first 200 visitors will receive free popcorn and cotton candy. The festival will close with unique programs such as aerial drone photography surrounding the completed calligraphy artwork. Through these experiences, the event offers opportunities to enjoy the festival while connecting people and local culture, fostering even deeper community bonds.
