Flowers and Light Movement in Koganei Park: Autumn Colors Story

About this event

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is conducting "Flowers and Light Movement" to offer new ways to enjoy parks through displays of flowers and light across all four seasons. At Koganei Park, a metropolitan park alive with the rich nature of Musashino and a history where people's lives and culture have been nurtured, an event themed "Autumn Colors Story (Aki-iro Monogatari)" will be held. Visitors can experience a special autumn park through decorations incorporating autumn wildflowers and natural materials, as well as magical illuminations woven with light and sound. The event unfolds across 7 areas, including paths and plazas connecting "Ikoi Plaza" to the "Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum" within the park. In the "Origins of Koganei Spun by Light" area, lantern and fabric photo spots inspired by the spring water and textile industry that supported local life will appear, with the colors of flowerbeds decorating the autumn scenery by day and lights illuminating trees by night. In "Secret Base of Forest Lights," which children can also enjoy, visitors can learn about the importance of forests while playing with playground equipment made from thinned wood and natural musical instruments, and workshops such as lantern making and astronomical observation will be held during the period (advance reservation required). In the "Glowing, Golden Moments" area, tables and benches made of upcycled materials are installed, allowing visitors to spend pleasant moments alongside the autumn scenery. Food trucks will also be open during the event period. In addition, the "Flowers and Light Movement 5th Anniversary Stamp Rally" will be held, where collecting stamps from 3 out of 6 eligible parks will earn a novelty gift (original tenugui towel).
