About this event

At the annual festival of Amanawa Shinmei Shrine, the guardian shrine of Hase, the mikoshi (portable shrine) advances along main thoroughfares, traversing routes toward Yuigahama, the border of Sakanoshita, and the Great Buddha Tunnel. Flower-decorated floats pulled by children also appear, enlivening the community festival. In the evening before the main festival, children's musical accompaniments (ohayashi) take place, followed by parishioners' ohayashi at night, offering a touch of local tradition. While traditionally held from September 7 to 14, in recent years the mikoshi parading through the town takes place on the second Sunday of September. This festival provides a valuable opportunity to experience the traditional culture cherished and handed down by the local community.
