About this event
"Zushi Art Festival 2026 (ZAF2026)" will be held from October 3 to October 25, 2026, under the theme "The Future of Beginnings, The Place of Beginnings." Set in Zushi, surrounded by sea and mountains where diverse cultures and people intersect, this festival was started by citizen volunteers and marks its 14th edition in 2026. As a special triennial edition, ZAF2026 will feature a diverse program staged across the entire town, using the historic Former Honda Residence as the main venue along with the Zushi downtown area and the alleys of the Numama district. In addition to exhibitions by domestic and international artists, the Ikego Forest Music Festival and citizen-participation projects will take place. The first round of announced artists includes Zushi-based photographer Daido Moriyama and Kamakura- and Los Angeles-based artist Shingo Francis. Furthermore, a special exhibition of the large-scale lithograph picture book "Tetrascroll" by architect and thinker R. Buckminster Fuller and an installation/performance work by "Taiki no Irie" (Atmospheric Inlet) will be presented. Aiming to open a town-wide space of "co-education" where diverse people meet, learn together, and grow through art and culture, the festival connects participatory and hands-on art activities utilizing Zushi's unique blend of nature, history, and daily culture to foster community building, nurture future leaders, and promote local culture. Major venues include the Former Honda Residence, Zushi Cultural Plaza Hall, Ikego Forest Nature Park, the Numama district, and various locations across Zushi City.
