About this event

Held every year on August 23 and 24, the Itabashi Jizo-son Grand Festival is a traditional festival bustling with many worshippers, where numerous street stalls line both sides of the old Tokaido townscape. It is visited by many people due to the folklore that visiting the Jizo-son on this day allows one to encounter someone who looks identical to a deceased family member. Walking along the approach while enjoying the stalls is an exciting experience for both adults and children. Please note that traffic restrictions will be implemented during the festival period. Held at Sofuku-in Temple, it offers good access, about a 10-minute walk from Hakone-Itabashi Station on the Hakone Tozan Railway. As there is no parking available, the use of public transportation is recommended. In winter, it is also held annually on January 23 and 24.
