About this event
Held as part of the Oi Town 70th Anniversary Memorial Projects in FY2026, the Disaster Prevention Festival aims to raise disaster prevention awareness among town residents. It offers a variety of content for all ages, from children to adults. Visitors can learn about disaster prevention while having fun through hands-on corners such as an earthquake simulation vehicle, a smoke house, drone piloting, and fire extinguishing drills. There will also be a vehicle display bringing together various disaster-related working vehicles, including small rescue vehicles and high-performance rescue vehicles from the Odawara City Fire Department and Kanagawa Prefectural Police Headquarters. Around 40 individuals, companies, and organizations will participate with exhibition and experience booths. Demonstrations of search and rescue drills from collapsed houses using NPOs, drones, and rescue dogs, tastings of curry rice provided by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, and light meals from food trucks will also be available. At the opening ceremony, live performances by the National Defense Academy Brass Band and singing by a soprano vocalist will be presented. It is a valuable opportunity for the entire community to think about disaster prevention while deepening knowledge through a stamp rally with participation prizes.
