About this event

The 'Murakami Evening Bamboo Lantern Festival' is a traditional festival in Murakami City reaching its finale this year as it marks its 25th anniversary. Handmade bamboo lanterns are lined up along Kurobei Street (Anzen Koji), which exudes the atmosphere of a historic castle town, and illuminated from within. Visitors can enjoy an evening stroll amidst the mystical, flickering light of the bamboo lanterns. In addition, performances by local musicians will take place in traditional machiya merchant houses, temples, and shrines, further enhancing the magical atmosphere. In this final edition of the festival, supported by the community for a quarter of a century, the most beautiful and mystical lights to date will be lit in gratitude. It offers a special night that will remain etched in your heart as a warm memory. The event will proceed in light rain.
