[August 2026] Play the Steinway in the Main Hall!

About this event

Targeted at elementary, junior high, and high school students taking piano lessons in the Obihiro and Tokachi area, this is a precious hands-on event where participants can play a world-class Steinway piano in the Main Hall of Obihiro Civic Cultural Hall. The event aims to inspire the creative activities of children who will shape the future by letting them experience an extraordinary piano they do not normally get to touch. The event will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2026, offering ten 50-minute slots. Each slot is limited to 10 groups, and a lottery will be held in the case of oversubscription. The participation fee is 500 yen per group, with up to 3 piano players and up to 3 accompanying persons per group. It can be used in various styles, including concert practice, four-hands duets, and ensembles with other musical instruments. Participants must bring the sheet music for the pieces they wish to play. Piano pedal extenders/assist pedals are not provided, so participants must bring their own if needed. Parents and guardians may observe or accompany, but admission is strictly limited to participants and related persons. Applications are accepted via an online form or by phone, with the application period running from 9:00 AM on Sunday, July 26, 2026 to 5:00 PM on Friday, August 21, 2026. Participation guidance or lottery failure notices will be sent at least 7 days prior to the event date.
