Set across Sabae City, Echizen City, and Echizen Town in Fukui Prefecture, the open factory event 'RENEW/2026' will be held for three days from October 9 to 11, 2026. Marking its 12th edition, 121 businesses will participate across the entire region where seven manufacturing industries congregate—Echizen lacquerware, Echizen washi paper, Echizen forged cutlery, Echizen chests, Echizen pottery, eyeglasses, and textiles. Visitors can experience workshop tours, approximately 80 types of hands-on workshops, official tours visiting production areas, talk events, and more. By visiting manufacturing sites in person—including workshops and enterprises usually closed to the public—and hearing directly from artisans and staff, you can gain deep insight into the processes and techniques through which products are created. In addition, the 'Production Area Living & Working Guidance' will be held concurrently, offering opportunities to learn about working in craft industries and living in the region. This event aims to showcase the appeal of local craft industries and promote regional revitalization.
