Sign Language Day Festival 2026

Held on Wednesday (national holiday), September 23, 2026, at the pedestrian deck in front of the north exit of JR Kofu Station, "Sign Language Day Festival 2026" is an event commemorating the "International Day of Sign Languages" and "Yamanashi Sign Language Day." It aims to be an event that everyone can enjoy together, whether they can use sign language or not, and whether they are deaf or hearing. On the day of the event, activities including a deaf soccer kickoff ceremony, taiko drumming performances, games by NPO members, sign language singing, and performances are scheduled. There will also be a performance by Terumi Watanabe, director of Rhythm of Love, providing a fun time to exercise together with participants under the theme of nurturing mind and body. A flea market will also be held at the venue, featuring a bazaar by the "Yamanashi Sign Language Association" and sales of original miscellaneous goods from the disability welfare service facility "Rakushusha." Participation is free, and anyone is welcome to join casually.
