About this event

The 44th Ueda Sanada Festival will be held in downtown Ueda City on Sunday, November 1, 2026. This festival features a variety of performances expressing the lifestyle and spirit of the Sanada clan, including a grand warrior procession dressed as Sanada samurai, powerful musket demonstrations by gunnery troops, spirited performances by city taiko drumming groups, and dramatic battle reenactments by volunteer actors. A vivid historical scroll unfolds as if traveling back to the Sengoku period. In the main event, the Sanada Army Warrior Procession, roles for Sanada Yukimura, Sanada Masayuki, and Sanada Yukitaka have been cast, promising a spectacular parade. General participants can also join the Warrior Procession and Battle Reenactment, donning red-lacquered armor (Akazonae) to march through the downtown area or participating in the civic drama following authentic sword-fighting training. Participation fees are 3,000 yen for the Warrior Procession (2,000 yen if bringing own armor), and for the Battle Reenactment, 4,000 yen for general participants and 3,000 yen for under 18. Application deadlines are Friday, September 11 for the Warrior Procession and Sunday, September 6 for the Battle Reenactment. Please note that traffic restrictions will be in place in the city center on the day of the event.
