About this event
The "2026 Suzaka Doll Festa .7," held at the World Folk Doll Museum in Suzaka City, Nagano Prefecture, is an open-call exhibition that showcases works gathered from across the nation and around the world under the theme of "Creative Dolls," unbound by genre or technique. It is an event uniquely suited to this museum, which houses and displays approximately 3,000 folk dolls from over 100 countries donated by Honorary Director Chie Koike, a Suzaka native and former principal of Bunka Fashion College. Through these handmade, rustic dolls collected from various regions—crafts that are gradually disappearing—visitors can learn about the culture, history, daily life, and fashion of different nations. In this exhibition, highly individual creative doll works will come together, promising an impressive display. With no restrictions on materials or expressive methods, works born from free imagination will be lined up, providing an opportunity to experience the depth and diversity of doll expression.
