About this event
The annual grand festival (Reitaisai) will be held from Saturday, September 12 to Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Kamado Shrine in Omachi City, Nagano Prefecture. Of particular note are the dedicatory fireworks and starmine scheduled for the eve of the festival on Saturday, September 12. Fireworks will be launched from the Nishi Park Ground starting at 7:00 PM, and starmine fireworks are scheduled to be launched from 8:10 PM. These fireworks can be viewed up close and are very popular. During the Reitaisai on the following day, Sunday the 13th, the dedication of the Urayasu dance and children's dedicatory sumo will take place. The Urayasu dance will be held from 11:30 AM, and the children's dedicatory sumo will begin at 1:00 PM within the shrine grounds. The dedicatory sumo performed at the annual festival has a history dating back to the Edo period, and a sumo ring (dohyo) still remains on the shrine grounds today. The principal deities are Hinokagutsuchi-no-Kami, the god of fire, and Okitsuhime-no-Mikoto and Okitsuhiko-no-Mikoto, the deities of the hearth.
