'Battle of Sekigahara Day' Special Project: Signal Fire Tour 2026

About this event

A special tour will be held where visitors can relive the Battle of Sekigahara, known as the realm-dividing decisive clash on the 15th day of the 9th month of Keicho 5. On this tour, participants can exclusively view signal fires rising prior to opening hours from the 5th-floor observation room of the Gifu Sekigahara Battlefield Memorial Museum. Furthermore, at the Okayama Signal Fire Site, you can watch a powerful demonstration by the Sekigahara Teppo-tai (gun corps), as well as experience lighting a signal fire yourself and firing a gas cannon. An official historical guide accompanies the tour throughout, providing commentary via earphone guides. Admission to the memorial museum is also included at the end of the tour; after viewing the 1st-floor video exhibits (Ground Vision & Theater), visitors are free to explore on their own. Participants will also receive special gifts, including a 'Battle of Sekigahara Day' Goshuin stamp and original museum merchandise. As the tour involves walking, participants must be capable of walking the route.
