About this event
Held in Mori Town, Shizuoka Prefecture, 'Mori Festival' is a dynamic festival featuring 14 gorgeous, ornate festival floats vigorously parading through narrow streets. Its charm lies in the harmony of the floats prepared over the course of a year, the festival music (hayashi), the energetic marching (neri), and the festival participants all united as one. In particular, the togyo (portable shrine procession) on the 2nd day, the kangyo (return of the portable shrine) on the 3rd day, and the maigo-gaeshi (returning the child dancers) are must-see highlights. Also known as a 'fighting festival,' the sight of the entire town engulfed in passion is spectacular. Intense float marching takes place at night, bringing the festival's excitement to its climax.
