Hokusei Line Summer Vacation Parent-Child Tours 2026

About this event

The popular annual Hokusei Line Summer Vacation Parent-Child Tours will be held. This is a rare opportunity to tour the train depot (Kita-Daisha Rail Yard), which is normally closed to the public, and take a look behind the scenes of the Hokusei Line. Geared toward elementary school students and their guardians, this tour allows participants to inspect the facilities and operations that maintain and support train runs. It is a highly recommended hands-on experience for creating summer memories while parents and children discover the mechanics and charms of railways together. Capacity is limited to 20 parent-child pairs (up to 3 people per group), and the participation fee is 500 yen per person (including insurance and safety measures costs). Applications are accepted via postal postcard and must arrive by 16:30 on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 (Reiwa 8). If applications exceed capacity, participants will be chosen by lottery.
