About this event

The '2026 Peace and Human Summer Festa' will be hosted by Uji City, the Uji City Board of Education, and the Uji City Peace City Promotion Council. This event provides an opportunity to reflect on the importance of peace, human rights, and the preciousness of human life through screenings of classic movies that address human rights themes. At the Cultural Center Main Hall, there will be opening remarks by the organizers, a report on peace study outcomes by elementary and junior high school peace delegation members, a screening of the Uji City War Experience Archives, and a screening of the animated movie 'Nintama Rantaro: Dokutake Ninja Squad's Strongest Strategist' ('Nintama Rantaro: Dokutake Ninja-tai Saikyo no Gunshi'). Additionally, in the lobby in front of the Cultural Center Main Hall, a mini sign language workshop, the 'Ties of Smiles Art Exhibition' by Shizugawa Fukushi no Sono, and human rights awareness panel displays will be held. Although some programs require numbered admission tickets, the 'Peace Storytelling Session' at the Central Library, the 'Peace Drawings' exhibition at the Central Public Hall, and the '80th Anniversary of the End of the War War Relics Exhibition: Life During the War' at the Historical Museum can be attended without numbered admission tickets. In particular, the exhibition of drawings created by elementary and junior high school students based on the theme of peace, as well as the exhibition introducing life during wartime through donated war relics, will be valuable opportunities to deepen understanding of peace.
