About this event

The Nagaokakyo Gracia Festival reenacts the historical episode in which Tama (later known as Hosokawa Gracia), daughter of Akechi Mitsuhide, married Tadaoki, the eldest son of Hosokawa Fujitaka, lord of Shoryuji Castle. In 2026, it will be held from Saturday, October 31 to Sunday, November 8. During the festival period, named "Gracia Week", events such as concerts, exhibitions, and handmade craft markets are held mainly in front of JR Nagaokakyo Station and at the Central Community Center, filling Nagaokakyo City with a festive atmosphere leading up to the final day's parade. On Sunday, November 8, a total of approximately 1,000 participants—including a procession reenacting "Tama's" bridal entry dressed in period costume and celebratory townspeople parades by various organizations and citizens—will march approximately 2.7 km from Nagaoka Dai-roku Elementary School to Shoryuji Castle Park. In addition, stage shows and festival food/game stalls will be held at special venues across the city to enliven the festival.
