The 18th Takenouchi Kaido Lantern Festival

The "18th Takenouchi Kaido Lantern Festival" will be held, illuminating Takenouchi Kaido—said to be Japan's oldest road and certified as Osaka Prefecture's first Japan Heritage—with approximately 2,500 lanterns. To pass down the lively atmosphere and charming ambiance brought by historical travel culture, Ise lanterns and Jizo halls standing along Takenouchi Kaido will be adorned with magical light. At the event, in addition to lighting the highway with lanterns, visitors can enjoy a handmade market by local residents, under-eaves galleries, and more. It is a community-wide festival where visitors can fully enjoy Takenouchi Kaido, Japan's oldest official highway, and its magical atmosphere reflected at autumn twilight. Held concurrently, the "Marche de Taishi Night Market" will feature food trucks and stalls offering food, drinks, and raffle games, adding to the lively atmosphere. Wind instrument brass band performances by junior high and high school students are also scheduled, enlivening the festival atmosphere with music.
