About this event
Kobe Biomedical Innovation Cluster Open House 2026 is an annual event offering a valuable opportunity to tour cutting-edge facilities that are usually closed to the public, including research institutes, hospitals, universities, and companies within the Kobe Biomedical Innovation Cluster. The event is packed with exclusive experiences, such as a tour of the supercomputer 'Fugaku', introductions to living organisms and robots active in research, health measurements that allow visitors to learn about their own bodies, and laboratory experiments that give a taste of being a researcher. With hospital and medical museum tours and a real riddle-solving event, numerous activities are available for people of all ages, from children to adults. At the Foundation for Computational Science (FOCUS), a guided tour regarding Japan-made supercomputers that achieved world number one rankings and the history of supercomputer development will be conducted at the Distributed Computing Museum (2nd floor exhibition corner). No advance registration is required for this guided tour, and participants will receive novelty gifts. In the 1st floor entrance hall, panel displays regarding case studies on the utilization of supercomputers and computational science will also be held, open for free viewing. On the day, a collection of case studies on supercomputer and computational science utilization (free of charge) will also be distributed.
