About this event
At Taimadera Okunoin in Katsuragi City, Nara Prefecture, the "Special Exhibition of the Heisei Tapestry Taima Mandala" will be held. At this event, the Heisei version of the Taima Mandala, known for the legend of Princess Chujo, will be specially exhibited to the public. Through a project launched in the first year of the Heisei era (1989), which took about 10 years, visitors can view the "Tapestry Taima Mandala Heisei Version," completed by restoring the appearance of the National Treasure Taima Mandala at the time of its completion and recreating the tapestry weave (tsuzure-ori) and dyes of that era. The composition, depicting the Pure Land of Sukhavati in minute detail, conveys the charm of the ancient master technique of tapestry weave. During the period, Taima Mandala illustrated lectures (etoki) will also be held, allowing visitors to understand the world of the mandala more deeply. Why not take this opportunity to experience history, tradition, and devotional culture handed down for over a thousand years?
