About this event
Held at Taimadera Nakanobo in Katsuragi City, Nara Prefecture, the 'Michibiki Kannon Goma Prayer & Tea Whisk Memorial Service' is a special Buddhist service in which the Eleven-Faced Goma ritual is performed before the Eleven-Faced Kannon. By writing prayers on Goma wooden sticks and casting them into the consecrated fire, wishes are delivered to Michibiki Kannon. During this service, a special viewing of the Michibiki Kannon statue (early Heian period, late 10th century), designated as an Important Art Object and said to beautify mind and body when beheld in person, will also be held. In addition, the Kozui Kaji (perfumed water blessing) using water offered to Kannon from En no Gyoja's blessing well will be conducted, allowing visitors to purify mind and body with sacred fresh water. In case of inclement weather, an Uchi-Goma (internal goma performed through mental concentration without lighting fire) will be held inside the hall. The prayer fee is 500 yen. After the service concludes, a Michibiki Kannon prayer Goshuin stamp (stamped in gold) will also be granted.
