About this event

A traditional event held every year on November 3, also known as the "Hanakago Festival" (Flower Basket Festival), it is designated as an Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Tottori Prefecture. This festival offers prayers for abundant harvests, in which young people dedicate "hanakago" (flower baskets made by wrapping five-colored paper around bamboo strips to resemble the sun) to the shrine while carrying them on their backs to express gratitude to the local guardian deity. In addition, the "Kirin Shishi-mai" (Kirin Lion Dance), which is likewise designated as an Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Tottori Prefecture, is also performed as an offering.
