About this event

"Mure Genpei Stone Lantern Road 2026" will be held for 15 days from Saturday, August 29 to Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Mure-cho, Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture. This event is a popular summer event held on the "Mure Genpei Stone Lantern Road," registered under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's Japan Scenic Byways, marking its 22nd edition in total this year. Across approximately 1 kilometer along the Old Aji Highway from Takamatsu City's "Kotoden Yakuri Station" to the "Genpei Historic Site: Komadate-iwa and Inori-iwa," approximately 150 stone lanterns of various sizes will be displayed. Genpei historic sites such as "Shidai-ji Temple," "Komadate-iwa," and "Somon Ruins" will also be illuminated, coloring the scenic landscape. This year's theme is "Light, Future, Stroll," aiming for an event that illuminates a sparkling and bright future inspired by the near future. The lighting hours of the stone lanterns are from dusk until 21:30. Various related events are also scheduled to be held every Saturday during the event period. Greatly contributing to regional revitalization, this event is ideal for enjoying a summer night stroll while experiencing the region's charm.
