Set against the backdrop of the scenic island beauty of the Seto Inland Sea and the world-renowned 'Shimanami Kaido' sea route, the '24th Setouchi Shimanami Kaido Three Day March' held in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture, is a walking event marking its 24th year. Known as an official Japan Marching League event, the breathtaking views from the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge feel like a walk in the sky over the sea. This year, the event has substantially revamped its programs with a major focus on expanding participation among youth in their teens and 20s as well as beginners. A diverse lineup allowing participants to truly experience Imabari beyond just walking will be offered, including the 'Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge Crossing Course' that is easy for casual participants to challenge, a special 'Matchmaking Night Walk' viewing the illuminated Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge from Kirosan Observatory Park, and a treasure hunt to enjoy exploring Imabari town before and after the event. Even first-time participants can enjoy these 3 days with the feeling of traveling. For regular participants, various courses themed around Imabari's five proud attractions—'Maritime Industry,' 'Imabari Towels,' 'Tange Architecture,' 'FC Imabari,' and 'Shimanami Kaido'—are set up, naturally introducing the town's unique character and stories through walking. Experiences combining 'walking + alpha' await, such as crossing bridges, taking in night views, and touring the town.
