About this event
"Hashiken" is a traditional Tosa drinking parlor game (competition) that has been played throughout Kochi Prefecture since ancient times. It is a game where two opponents guess the total number of chopsticks held out from their sleeves, and the loser is obliged to drink sake (penalty cup). The traditional "Tosa Hashiken Tournament" is held around October 1, "Sake Day," which marks the New Year of sake brewing. Marking its 58th edition, this year's tournament will be held at the Kochi Prefectural Gymnasium. Beginner teams are very welcome, and a viewing area (free) is also provided. We look forward to welcoming many visitors.
