About this event

The Goshinkosai of Araho Shrine is a traditional event in Kiyama Town held every year on September 23. Continuing since the Heian period, this festival is a divine procession in which the deity of Araho Shrine travels through the parishioner areas. The highlight of the festival is the portable shrine (mikoshi) procession by approximately 300 parishioners, where the deity of Araho Shrine tours Kiyama Town to pray for people's safety and prosperity. The mikoshi departs from the schoolyard of Kiyama Municipal Kiri Elementary School and parades along a route of approximately 680 meters. This festival serves as an important occasion to deepen the bonds of local residents and pass down traditional culture to the next generation. Held to coincide with the Autumnal Equinox Day, this festival offers a valuable experience to feel the vibrancy of the local community.
