About this event
The 'Special Exhibition: Tokusaburo Kobayashi' held at the Iwate Museum of Art is the first major retrospective of Western-style painter Tokusaburo Kobayashi, who had close interactions with Yorozu Tetsugoro. Born in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Tokusaburo Kobayashi painted numerous portraits of his family and familiar motifs such as sardines and horse mackerel, while also being active in the field of stage design. Through more than 300 works and archival materials, this exhibition traces the history of his creative activities, which have been relatively little known until now. Some works will be rotated between the first and second terms, allowing visitors to experience diverse aspects of Tokusaburo Kobayashi's world throughout the exhibition period.
