About this event
"Morioka Oimo Expo 2026" is an event bringing together popular sweet potato treats from across Japan, held at a special venue in the Morioka History and Culture Museum Plaza in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture. Held over 3 days from Friday, September 11 to Sunday, September 13, 2026, popular shops across categories including roasted sweet potatoes, sweets, and more will set up stalls. Highlights include Awajishima Gold Award Curry Bread from Hyogo, the ultimate honey-baked sweet potato made with highest-sweetness Beniharuka by Imoya Ginjiro from Kagoshima, raw sweet potato confections by Imoya Mitsusaburo from Okayama, and "Oimo Pudding" by sweet potato specialty shop Imomaru from Kagawa. A diverse variety of flavors will be available, including aged roasted sweet potato tempura and creamy croquettes from "~OSAKA Tempura~ Ten-carat" from Osaka, and Hibi roasted sweet potato fries from HIBIYAKIIMO TOKYO from Tokyo. The venue is easily accessible, located a 20-minute walk from JR Morioka Station and a 5-minute walk from Morioka Bus Center. Tickets are 500 yen in advance and 600 yen at the door, with free admission for elementary school students and younger. Hours are 10:00 to 17:00 on Friday, September 11, and on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13, the event will operate under a timed-entry, complete rotation system across 5 designated time slots. The event will proceed rain or shine, but may be cancelled in severe weather. Smoking and pets are prohibited inside the venue. Admission tickets do not include food and merchandise costs.
