The 'Morioka Autumn Festival,' the annual grand festival of Morioka Hachimangu Shrine, is a classic autumn tradition packed with Morioka's traditional culture, featuring an attractive festival scroll of magnificent floats parading through the city. Deeply loved by local residents, the float event is held with recruitment for participants to play the small drum (kodaiko), flute, call out the festival chant (ondoage), or act as pullers, along with practice sessions. On the day of the festival, a departure ceremony takes place in front of the Morioka History and Culture Museum Plaza, and the floats parade around the city.
