On Saturday, August 29, 2026, the "Yonezawa Environment x Disaster Prevention Festival 2026" will be held around Yonezawa City Hall and at the Okitama General Cultural Center. This festival is an event where citizens can enjoy learning through seeing, listening, and experiencing environmental issues such as marine litter, as well as disaster preparedness. Since it is co-hosted with the disaster prevention festival this year, it serves as a valuable opportunity to acquire both environmental and disaster prevention knowledge and experience at once. It also provides a chance to think about eco-friendly considerations in daily life to promote "Deco-Katsu" (activities combining decarbonization and eco-friendliness). At the event, a talk show by comedian and garbage collector Shuichi Takizawa (The Machineguns) will be held, along with displays and ride experiences of rarely seen "working vehicles" such as garbage trucks, SDF high-mobility vehicles, and patrol cars. Furthermore, powerful programs such as firefighting disaster prevention helicopter flights and rescue training demonstrations with aerial ladder trucks are planned. Venues are Yonezawa City Hall 1st to 3rd floors, City Hall Parking Lot, and Okitama General Cultural Center 1st Floor Hall.
