The nationally popular endurance race "Isu-1 Grand Prix," where participants ride office chairs and compete for the number of laps completed in 2 hours, will be held for the first time in Nanyo City, Yamagata Prefecture on Saturday, October 24, 2026. It is a heated endurance race using standard office chairs to compete on how many laps can be completed on a specially set course within the 2-hour time limit. This signature event, held across Japan to great excitement every time, finally lands in Nanyo City for the first time! Straddling their office chair work partner, participants engage in a surreal yet white-hot race propelled solely by foot power. Featuring a unique course layout taking advantage of the factory grounds, spectators can experience the athletes' energy and speed up close. The serious expressions of the racers, elaborate teamwork, and nail-biting dead heats are must-sees. Eligible participants must be high school age or older, with any gender and nationality welcome. Teams consist of 3 members, and each person must prepare and wear a helmet, gloves, knee pads, and elbow pads. Up to 2 office chairs can be brought per team, and participants are expected to carry a passionate spirit that never gives up until the very end.
