About this event

Held as the annual festival of Kashikikan Shrine, the guardian deity of Sukagawa, the Reiwa 8 Sukagawa Autumn Festival is a traditional festival rooted in the community. Fifteen neighborhood associations and organizations participate in the adult mikoshi procession, allowing visitors to feel the vibrant energy of the carriers. On September 12, the Kasasoroe ritual takes place from 6:45 PM, after which all mikoshi receive purification before the worship hall and then parade down the main street. A children's mikoshi parade will also be held with 6 neighborhood associations scheduled to participate. On September 13 from 1:00 PM, children's mikoshi will parade from near Kagisei Bakery to near tette. Taiko drum performances by neighborhood associations and the display of an impressive, massive lion head are also scheduled, adding to the festival's excitement. Furthermore, an Ultraman Arc show will be held on the same day for children to enjoy. At the Kashikikan Shrine Autumn Festival ceremony, prayers are offered in gratitude for bountiful harvests and local peace, as well as for tranquility in the coming year. On September 13, the main mikoshi procession begins with the departure ritual at 8:00 AM, departing at 8:45 AM to tour 29 neighborhoods in the city. This year, the return route has been modified due to prefectural road construction. The festival is free to watch and visit, taking place around venues including in front of the Sukagawa Civic Community Center tette and Taimatsu Street.
