About this event
Held at a special venue inside the precincts of Kitain Temple in Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture, the "Koedo Kawagoe Chrysanthemum Festival" is a traditional autumn event where visitors can appreciate beautifully blooming chrysanthemum flowers cultivated with skill and deep care. It is a popular event bustling with many visitors each year, adorning the temple grounds with chrysanthemums of various colors. Originally starting in 1983 (Showa 58) as a dedicatory chrysanthemum exhibition for Kitain Temple, it is a chrysanthemum celebration where over 400 pieces are exhibited in some years. Admission to the special venue is free for all, featuring distinctive and unique creations that defy standard perceptions of chrysanthemums, such as Fukusuke-style dwarf arrangements and three-stem arrangements (three-blossom bonsai). Works created by students of Kasumigaseki Junior High School are also displayed, showcasing connection with the local community. The venue is spacious, allowing for a relaxed viewing experience. Potted chrysanthemums are also sold near the entrance and exit.
