About this event
At the Saitama Prefectural Kumagaya Library, the cultural lecture "Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Siege of Odawara and Saitama: Focusing on the Inundation of Oshi Castle" will be held. In connection with the currently airing NHK Taiga Drama "Toyotomi Brothers!", Kimio Suzuki, Director of the Gyoda City Folk Museum, will give a lecture themed on Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Siege of Odawara and Saitama. In the lecture, he will unravel the history of Saitama during the Sengoku period, touching on castles within the prefecture such as Hachigata Castle and Iwatsuki Castle, as well as Oshi Castle, which withstood Ishida Mitsunari's inundation attack. This lecture is a valuable opportunity to experience the history and culture of Saitama during the Sengoku period. In addition, during the same period as the lecture, a materials exhibition titled "Reading the Sengoku Period from Documents and War Chronicles: Focusing on the Impregnable Oshi Castle" will also be held in the 2nd floor lobby of the Saitama Prefectural Kumagaya Library, displaying materials related to Oshi Castle and its associated historical figures.
