About this event
Transmitted in 1720 (Kyoho 5) from Shimomakuri in Koshigaya City, Higashinakano Shishimai is an Intangible Folk Cultural Property designated by Kasukabe City and preserved by the Higashinakano Shishimai Preservation Society. Also known as Tenka Muso Kakubei Shishimai, it is characterized by its heroic and dynamic dance. Every November, the lion dance is dedicated during the annual festival of Higashinakano Katori Shrine. There are two parts: Tsujikiri, which patrols through the district, and the dedicated dance performed within the shrine grounds, which were originally held separately. This traditional lion dance is a precious performing art that strongly reflects the local culture, and its powerful dance captivates all onlookers.
