About this event
As part of the Bukosan Ontake Shrine Autumn Grand Festival, sacred kagura dance will be dedicated at the Satomiya Kagura Hall. Bukosan Ontake Shrine Satomiya Daidai Kagura has a history of approximately 400 years and is the only kagura tradition preserved in Yokoze Town. It is said to have originally been performed to pray for abundant grain harvests. Currently, 14 dances are performed: 'Okina-watashi', 'Ohime-mai', 'Tsurugi-kitae', 'Tengu-mai', 'Kami-maneki', 'Otafuku', 'Iwato-biraki', 'Inazukuri', 'Daikoku-mai', 'Uo-asari', 'Kakurimino-kakurigasa', 'Henmenso', 'Daija-taiji', and 'Shushubatsu'. Various deities appear in dances that are graceful, valiant, and at times comical, offering a precious opportunity to experience local traditional performing arts. Ritual ceremonies for the Bukosan Ontake Shrine Autumn Grand Festival will also be conducted on the day. Food trucks are scheduled to appear at the venue.
