About this event
At the "Nagura Myokengu Autumn Festival," handed down in the Shimo-Ogano district of Ogano Town, Saitama Prefecture, a rare Onna Kabuki (all-female kabuki performance) is dedicated at the shrine. In the history of Ogano Kabuki continuing since the Meiji and Taisho eras, Musume Kabuki (young women's kabuki) had temporarily died out, but was revived when female residents joined together after local Nagura Onna Kabuki master Tamura was approached by the late Shohei Todoroki (the 4th Otoujiro Bando), a local resident. The festival takes place annually on the first Saturday of October. In addition to kabuki stagings, there are presentations such as karaoke, folk songs, and choral singing, creating a warm atmosphere where local residents and spectators unite across generations to enjoy the celebration.
