About this event
At Hama-rikyu Gardens in Chuo Ward, Tokyo, a special evening opening event titled "Moon Viewing Stroll at Hama-rikyu: Appreciating the Chestnut Moon in the Shogun's Garden" will be held to coincide with the Chestnut Moon (Jusanya, the 13th night of the lunar month). For this event, normal opening hours (until 17:00) are extended to 21:00, gently illuminating the nighttime garden. During the period, offering ceremonies at the moon-viewing platform and daily traditional performing arts stages "Sayo no Shirabe" featuring Sato-kagura, koto, and shakuhachi will be presented. In addition, Nakajima no Ochaya will offer a special nighttime menu including nerikiri matcha sets and sake, along with food trucks selling light refreshments and original merchandise. Furthermore, a "Special Moon Viewing Guided Tour" will be available for junior high school students and older. Celebrating the 80th anniversary of the garden opening as a metropolitan garden, the opening hours will also be extended to 21:00 for five days from Friday, October 30 to Tuesday (National Holiday), November 3, allowing visitors to enjoy the magical nighttime garden under an umbrella-themed light-up production.
