About this event
Held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, the 73rd Izu Oshima Tokyo Citizens' Shore Fishing Tournament is a traditional shore fishing tournament organized by the Oshima Tourism Association and co-hosted by Oshima Town, Tokyo. Departing from Takeshiba Passenger Ship Terminal on the previous evening of Saturday the 17th as an overnight boat tour, competitive fishing begins after arriving at Oshima at 6:00 AM the next morning. The tournament awards prizes across 3 categories: bottom fish, surface/midwater fish, and blue-backed fish, with eligible catches weighing 600g or more (500g or more for blue-backed fish). The overall top award winner will be presented with the Tokyo Governor's Cup. Both bait fishing and lure fishing are permitted, and participants compete with one fish species per person. In addition to the award categories, there is also a Tourism Association Special Prize. Participation fees, which include round-trip boat fare, insurance, and entry fee, are 11,000 yen for adults and 7,000 yen for children (discounts available for Izu Islands Club members). For on-site local participation, the fee is 2,000 yen for adults and 1,000 yen for children. The capacity is 50 participants, with a minimum required number of 15 participants. In case of stormy weather, the decision regarding whether to hold the event will be made at 13:00 on the previous day. This tournament offers a wonderful opportunity to test your fishing skills while fully enjoying the rich nature of Izu Oshima.
