About this event

Held on Monday (national holiday), October 12, 2026, around Okubo-dori Avenue (Shin-Okubo Station to Meiji-dori Avenue) in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, the '43rd Okubo Festival' is the region's largest event where you can enjoy numerous event programs packed with the charms of multicultural Okubo. On the day, Okubo-dori Avenue will become a pedestrian paradise for about 1 kilometer, featuring a jazz festival by jazz artists, a gorgeous parade joined by several hundred participants in total, exhibition booths from Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, and other countries, as well as events for children. Particular highlights include the 'Angels' Fun Square (Paraca 24),' featuring hand painting, balloon art, and Japanese wadaiko drum performances for children, and the 'Plaza in front of Japan Pension Service,' where the jazz festival will take place. In addition, an internationally diverse parade featuring baton twirlers, folk costume dances, and more will brighten up Okubo-dori Avenue. As heavy crowding is expected on the day of the event, accessing via Higashi-shinjuku Station on the Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line is recommended. Admission is free.
