About this event

The "Ikejiri Inari Shrine Grand Festival" will be held from September 19 to September 20, 2026, at Ikejiri Inari Shrine in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo. Established about 350 years ago in the early Edo period, this grand festival at Ikejiri Inari Shrine takes place annually on the third Sunday of September and the preceding Saturday. The dedicated performance arts that had been suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic were revived in 2025, and 2026 marks a commemorative year with the parade of the head shrine float (honsha dashi). On Saturday the 19th, an eve festival (yoimiya-sai) and dedicated performance arts will be held. On Sunday the 20th, following the Grand Festival Ceremony in the morning, the float departure (miyadashi), Sato Kagura dance, and float return (miyairi) will take place in the afternoon. The festival schedule is as follows: Saturday, September 19: 11:00 Mikoshi Spirit Enshrinement 12:00 Sacred Sake Pavilion Opening 16:00 - 17:00 Dedicated Performance Arts Part 1 17:00 Yoimiya-sai (Eve Festival) 18:00 - 20:00 Dedicated Performance Arts Part 2 Sunday, September 20: 10:30 Grand Festival Ceremony 13:00 Head Shrine Float Departure (Miyadashi) Afternoon: Sato Kagura, Sacred Sake Pavilion Closing 14:50 Head Shrine Float Return (Miyairi) Admission is free. As a traditional festival coloring autumn in the Ikejiri area, local residents and many visitors gather here.
