About this event
Since its inception in 1972 (Showa 47) in Minami-Otsuka, the Tokyo Otsuka Awa Odori has been held every year in late August as a quintessential summer tradition in Otsuka. Every year, over 1,000 dancers participate, creating an atmosphere full of passion and excitement. There are numerous highlights, including choreographed group dances at TRAMpal Otsuka, processional street dancing along Minami-Otsuka Avenue, and the finale's free-for-all wild dance (ranbu). Anyone can participate, and admission is free.
