Japanese name:桑都の杜オープニングイベント
📅 Sat, Oct 3, 2026 - Sun, Oct 4, 2026
About this event
To celebrate the opening of the new complex facility "Soto no Mori" at the south exit of Hachioji Station, an opening event will be held on Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4, 2026. On the first day, Saturday, October 3, visitors can enjoy an opening ceremony, local choral singing, special projects related to the "Tales of Soto" (the historical silk capital), and a market with food trucks. It will be a day to connect with the history and culture of Hachioji. On the following day, Sunday, October 4, performances of traditional culture and arts of Hachioji—the "City of Textiles"—along with brass band concerts by local elementary, junior high, and high school students, and a market are scheduled. Inside the facility, the Hachioji History and Folk Museum will host a special exhibition titled "Showa 100 - Top 100 Selections of Hachioji Expo", providing an opportunity to delve deeply into Hachioji's history alongside the outdoor events. Venue hours on both days are from 10:00 to 20:00, but opening hours vary by facility, so checking in advance is recommended. As part of the festivities, the "Hachioji Pink Ribbon Soto no Mori Opening Event" will also take place to raise breast cancer awareness; pink sky lanterns floating into the night sky will create a magical scene, offering a special moment to share prayers for health and the importance of life. Additionally, the library shop "TOSHOP" will open simultaneously, selling books, stationery, picture book character goods, as well as products from Hachioji textile and dyeing mills. This event is packed with a diverse array of attractions celebrating the launch of "Soto no Mori" as a new gathering hub for Hachioji.
