About this event

Held in Hinode Town, Tokyo, 'Sweet Potato Digging & Feast Day in Hinode Part 2' is a hands-on experience event where participants can fully enjoy sweet potatoes, a quintessential autumn delicacy. Participants can take home the sweet potatoes they dig up themselves (1 plant cluster). Furthermore, they can savor delicious feasts made using freshly harvested sweet potatoes. The menu includes baked sweet potato or pot-roasted sweet potato (1 piece of either), sweet potato rice, tonjiru pork soup with sweet potatoes, and sweet potato tempura, allowing visitors to fully taste autumn flavors. The event will be held at Shiota Experience Farm, with meals served after the potato digging experience. It takes place rain or shine, but may be cancelled in severe weather. In rainy weather, meals will be provided for takeout as dining space cannot be secured. Participants are advised to bring work gloves and wear clothes and footwear (such as rain boots) that can get dirty. Everyone must bring their own drinks. The event is exclusive to JAF members and requires advance registration; a lottery will be held if applicants exceed capacity. Meals for children are available, but portion sizes are smaller than for adults. Additional plant clusters, baked sweet potatoes, and pot-roasted sweet potatoes can also be purchased, though prices may change, sales may be suspended, quantities may be limited, or items may sell out depending on crop conditions.
