Tsubame Oni Festival

In Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, demon-themed (oni) events are held at various locations throughout the city for the entire month of September, filling the entire town with demon folklore. During this period, oni-themed gourmet food also appears to delight visitors. As the festival's main event, the "21st Echigo Kugamiyama Shuten Doji Procession" will be held on Sunday, September 27. The procession takes place from 10:00 to 16:00, centered around Roadside Station SORAIRO Kugami and Shuten Doji Shrine. On that day, numerous workshop booths, food and beverage stalls, and merchandise vendors will be set up, bringing together performers and vendors from both inside and outside the prefecture. As a unique event that colors autumn in Tsubame City, the festival is expected to draw many visitors.
